Italian water movement achieves a major success
The italian water campaigners and which include EPSU affiliate CGIL-FP have achieved a major success in submitting 400.000 signatures for the government to elaborate a law that sees to return the water services to public control. The 5 key principles are:
1. Water as human right; 2. 50 free litres per person guaranteed; 3. Property of the water systems shall be entirely public with management through agencies disciplined by public law; 4. Participation of the local communities and the citizens to the public management of water; 5. The creation of a National Fund of solidarity and international cooperation for projects supporting the access to water.
