(16 April, Nicosia) The campaign for collecting signatures for the ETUC Public Services Petition, has already been completed successfully. The Campaign was undertaken by FP SEK and FSGE SEK in cooperation with the Cyprus Workers Confederation (SEK) and has resulted in the collection of more than 4000 signatures. The signatures that have been collected so far have been sent to the ETUC. EPSU General Secretary Carola Fischbach-Pyttel extended her warm congratulations to SEK leader Michalis Michael. She thanked him for; "the professional and indeed the extremely rapid, mobilisation of SEK members". She stated that "proportionally this is a very big contribution to the European cause for a framework directive for public services. Further signatures can go to www.petitionpublicservice.eu.
