GMB pledge major push for European public services petition

(28 March, Brussels) EPSU United Kingdom affiliate GMB gave a major boost to the European wide campaign ’Quality Public Services - Quality of Life’ in Brussels last week. The GMB Senior Management Team, took time during a visit to Brussels to give support to the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) initiative www.petitionpublicservice.eu.

The team, made up of national and regional leaders, are pictured giving their support to the petition. GMB General Secretary Paul Kenny (pictured with Union President Mary Turner) commented; "as an active member of the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU), GMB is happy to show our support for quality public services in the EU". Whilst in Brussels members of the GMB Senior Management Team took part in a joint GMB and PSE event on migrant workers held in the European Parliament.

GMB is a general union with around 600,000 members working in every part of the economy. There are 260,000 members in the GMB Public Services Section, which is 42% of the entire Union membership.
