Water Information System for Europe’, a new website of the Commission on the Water Framework Directive
(26 March 2007) The European Environment Agency has developed a new interactive Internet tool that informs Europe’s citizens about water quality and EU water policy. On that website you will also find information on EU policies such as the Water framework directive. The recent report on the performance of EU Member States in implementing the Water Framework Directive and several more detailed papers are available on that website. Please recall that the target of the Directive is to achieve a good level of water quality for all rivers, lakes, estuaries, coastal waters and groundwater in the European Union by 2015. And that a key element is to introduce pricing policies and cost recovery.
