EPSU Greek affiliate ADEDY makes long term commitment to quality public services

(13 March, Brussels) Last month over 150 civil service trade union reps from across Greece met in Athens to mark the opening of a new public service training institute. EPSU affiliate ADEDY, the federation of civil service unions in Greece, is taking a new approach to trade union education by focusing on how it can contribute to the provision of high quality public services.

Richard Pond, attending the meeting on behalf of EPSU, used his intervention (pictured) to make the link between this long term planning and the public service campaigns being currently run by EPSU and affiliates. He noted the Greek contribution to the www.petitionpublicservice.eu as a topical example. ADEDY’s training centre will offer a wide range of courses to its members, including training in public administration and management. The meeting heard contributions from the ADEDY president, Spyros Papaspyros, general secretary Ilias Iliopoulos, and Theodoros Chronopoulos, president of the new centre. The general secretary of the GSEE private sector union federation, Khristos Polyzogopoulos, also congratulated ADEDY on this important development
