Portuguese affiliates STAL to the fore in Public Service petition drive
(27 February 2007) STAL, EPSU affiliate in Portugal, has stepped up its efforts to ensure a successful petition in time for the ETUC congress in May. The union has widely circulated a call for the petition to the signed. STAL is cooperating with the other Portuguese affiliates to reach the widest number of potential signatories. National Campaign Coordinator José Manuel Marques stated that; "the Portuguese trade union community is fully aware of the need to maximise the mobilisation for this petition. We are fully confident that, in advance of Portugal assuming the EU Presidency, we will have pushed this issue up the agenda". This action build on the successful trade union coalition, which was built in November of 2006 and included participants from STE, SINTAP and SINDEL.
