ETUC sets out ’public service petition plan’ for national trade union centres
(6 February Brussels) The European trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has circulated a plan (download here!) to kick-start the European wide petition for public services. The detailed outline is due to be adopted at the ETUC Steering Committee (www.etuc.org) on 8 February. The document focuses on the need for a massive boost in the online presence of the petition. Four key measures are set to be debated; website profile for the petition, with the suggestion that the petition appear on ALL pages of each trade union’s website (for example here on EPSU!); the inclusion of links in newsletter stories; the ’tagging of individual e-mails with petition info; and the physical collection of signatures.
National Trade Union centres have also been requested to make the campaign the key message between 1 - 14 March. EPSU affiliates will coordinate with the confederations to link the campaign to the ongoing EPSU ’Quality Public Services - Quality of Life’ campaign.
