Swedish LO President signs up to ETUC petition on public services!


(7 December, Brussels) The EPSU campaign for public services http://www.epsu.org/r/271 received a major endorsement from Sweden recently. Wanja Lundby-Wedin, President of Swedish Trade Union Confederation LO, took time out to sign the European Trade Union Confederation petition on public services http://www.petitionpublicservice.eu/. The petition calls on the European Commission to produce a legal instrument on public services immediately.

Ms Lundby-Wedin, attending the ETUC Executive Committee in Brussels, signed, as EPSU General Secretary Carola Fischbach-Pyttel watched on. Ms. Fischbach-Pyttel stated that this personal endorsement by the LO President of the ETUC petition was "enormously encouraging". She added that she looked forward to the EPSU public sector unions (Swedish Members) coordinating with LO to bring this issue into the national political arena.
