Portuguese national administration strike set for 6 July
(5 July) EPSU has sent a message of support to unions in the FNSFP public service federation in Portugal, which has called a national strike for 6 July. In the face of government proposals for a major reorganisation of public administration, the unions have several key demands including; protecting pay and working conditions; defending quality public services; resisting privatisation; maintaining the right to collective bargaining and; preventing any increase in precarious employment.
EPSU supports these key demands and calls on the Portuguese government to use the proper mechanisms of collective bargaining to negotiate over any proposed restructuring in public administration.
