Employment, Health and Safety, Equality and CSR in electricity sector

The European social partners in the electricity sector considered:

* The progress with the European Commission study on employment. A presentation was given by the researchers ECOTEC; Employers and trade unions are requested to contribute to the study;

* Health and Safety and training. A joint statement from 1996 was updated. A small number of modifications was suggested, principally dealing with gender specific risks to be taken into account. The social partners will consider what visibility can be given to the statement. A joint working group on health and safety will be considered;

* The equality and diversity toolkit that is being worked on by Jane Pillinger. Detailed cases will be written.

* Corporate Social Responsibility. The draft programme of a conference was approved. The conference is to bring employers, trade unions and NGOs together for a tough discussion: CSR - Does it matter ?
