EPSU elects new Vice-President
(13 June, Brussels) The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) elected a second Vice-President at its Executive Committee meeting on 9 June. Ms. Tuire Santamäki-Vuori, President of JHL, Finland was unanimously elected by the EPSU Executive. Ms. Santamäki-Vuori, who is the head of Finland’s largest trade union, thanked the Executive for placing their trust in her and pledged to ’contribute to the vital work of EPSU to ensure that the concerns of public service workers are reflected in the European Union agenda’. Ms. Santamäki-Vuori has been the Finnish representative on the Executive since 2001. The EPSU General Secretary, Ms. Carola Fischbach-Pyttel stated that; "Tuire has long been a valued member of the Executive, and her acceptance of the Vice-Presidency is a sign of her commitment. With the Finnish Presidency of the EU just weeks away, the timing is perfect". The EPSU President is Anne-Marie Perret, of French affiliates FGF-FO. Ms. Santamäki-Vuori joins Dave Prentis, of UK affiliates UNISON as a Vice President of EPSU.
