EPSU campaign co-ordinators - update on European Parliament response to White Paper SGI

To: national campaign coordinators SGI working group

Dear friends,

I am writing to you to ask that you DIRECTLY CONTACT your national members of the European Parliament Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON). You can find your national members at the following link: http://www.europarl.eu.int/activities/expert/committees/allMembers.do?committee=1237&language=EN

On 3 May, ECON is due to table the ’Working Document on Services of General Interest’. It would be very helpful if short messages are sent to your national MEP’s on this committee calling for them send a strong message to the European Commission that a framework directive on sgi is needed now.

The EPSU secretariat has already sent a letter to all ECON members (attached), but of course the message is much stronger if it comes directly from national level.

Please find attached three elements to help in our lobbying towards the European Parliament (EP) on the ’Working document on Services of General Interest, Rapporteur B. Rapkay’. The EPSU secretariat letter sent today (28 April) to the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) Please use this as a model for your communications with your national MEP’s The timetable for the consideration of the working document in the EP The ’Rapkay report’ (Working document on services of general interest, 11 April, 2006)
