May day

We extend warm Mayday greetings to all EPSU affiliates. Millions of workers will be celebrating this historic date as a reminder to all of us that decent wages and working conditions are the result of struggle and do not fall from the sky.

The German poet Kurt Tucholsky, 1890 - 1935, wrote in 1931: " That workers should be paid for a job done is a theory which generally has been abandoned today." Clearly some employers and their organisations would like to abandon the idea of adequately paid work today, in 2006. We are here to not let that happen.
