EPSU and NGOs question preparation of EU for World Water Forum
The 4th World Water Forum will take place in Mexico in March. The EU as the world’s largest donor plays an important role.
EPSu is concerned that the preparations are hijacked by private sector interests and that the European Commission and Member States will use the occasion to promote the private provision of drinking water and waste water treatment, despite the fact that worldwide 95% of water companies is publicly owned. The emphasis should be on improving public provision.
