A social pillar to SEE Energy Community - now - say energy unions
(19 September 2005) The electricity and gas trade unions met to consider the next steps in the campaign to get the social pillar established of the South East European Energy Community, Skopje, 16-17 September 2005. This Community is based on a Treaty which lacks a social dimension. Following pressure from the trade unions the Commission is now working on a Memorandum on the social pillar. The unions considered the demands which will be finalised in the next two weeks. Our demands were discussed with the coordinator for the South-East European Parliamentarians, Macedonian MP Mrs. Vesna Borozan and with the interim president of the South East European Regulatory Board, Mr. Valery Vlatchkov. Both provided comments and input. The unions will further develop mutual cooperation to strengthen their cooperation. The conference was organised by the European Trade Union Institute of ETUC. EPSU Deputy General Secretary represented EPSU. For more information see the two presentations.
